Woe to the Pharisees - part 1

Matthew 23:13-15

Woe to the Pharisees -

They shut up the kingdom of heaven against men.

They don't go in and they don't allow those entering the kingdom of heaven to go in.

They devour widows houses and then for looks, they make long prayers.

Consequence they will receive a greater condemnation.

I am beginning to go through this list of woes to the Pharisees in Matthew 23.
The thing about the Pharisees is that they aren't caring for those around them.  They are caring for how they look and making sure how they look comes across as perfect.  But in the bent to do things perfect they brought in the struggles of judgement and conspiring and pride making sure they are elevated vs making sure those that have need are taken care of.  Proving the point that all have sinned and fall short of God's glory.  We all need Jesus.
Even the Pharisees who think they have it all figured out.

There is also a great consequence for their stumbling bringing people away from heaven.  They are causing other people to stumble in the midst of their actions - which Jesus says will bring about greater condemnation.

Romans 8:1
There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.  Who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

May we walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh.  It's not about being perfect looking but about loving like Jesus.
