Matthew 1:6
And Jesse begot David the king

Jesse was a Bethelmite. The LORD had chosen a king from one of his sons.

Samuel came to the house of Jesse and had seven of his sons pass before him. The LORD tells Samuel He sees not as man sees (1 Samuel 16:7) David is chosen, Samuel annoints David in front of all his brothers. Then the Spirit of The Lord came mightily upon David from that day forward.

Description of David
Ruddy
Beautiful eyes
Handsome in appearance
A skillful musician
Mighty man of valor
A warrior
Prudent in speech

Isaiah 11:1 a shoot will spring from the stem of Jesse, a branch from his roots will bear fruit
The nations will resort to the root of Jesse who will stand as a signal for the peoples.

Application:
The Lord looks at the heart
He sees not as man sees

I wanted to focus on that and track down a few verses to end there today.

Proverbs 31:30 charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting but a woman who fears The Lord is to be praised.

Psalm 139:13
For you saw my inward parts. You wove me in my mother's womb.

Colossians 3:23
Whatever you do, do your work heartily to The Lord rather than men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is The Lord Christ whom you serve.

1 Peter 3:3-4
Do not let your adornment be merely outward, arranging hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel. Rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit which is very precious in the sight of God.
